Q. Favorite spot for a coffee meeting? A Baked Joint, K ST NW

Q. Describe how a skill you learned in a previous job helped you in your current job. After leaving Capitol Hill to join Booz Allen, I quickly began to build the foundational consultative skills needed to make any program, project or client successful. As a consultant you are trained to analyze your client’s current state of affairs and create reliable solutions to bridge the gap to where they want to be. This ability to problem solve has not only remained with me throughout my career but has enhanced with each new challenge I’ve faced within the private and public sector.

Q. Job advice in three words? Preparation is power.

Q. How are you (or your company, org, nonprofit) currently bridging the gap between politics and tech / innovation and regulation? Google’s mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. This accessibility of knowledge allows anyone no matter their race, creed, or background, the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the world around us including how tech and policy intertwine.

Q. What can innovators learn from policymakers? When shaping the future, you don't always need to be first to be the best. Sometimes the best policies are created in a slow and methodical fashion.

Q. What can policymakers learn from innovators? The best part about tech is the amount of collaboration involved in producing best in class products for end users. The willingness to work together, capitalizing on our differences, is critical in the advancement of any society.

Q. Favorite podcast you recommend? Pivot, hosted by Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway is by far my favorite podcast out today. I love their banter and learn something new in every episode. I appreciate their ability to find humor in even the most sensitive topics in business, tech and politics.

Q. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself in the beginning of your career?
Be easy on yourself. The world can be hard enough.

Q. Morning routine? Before I start my day, I like to spin on the Peloton or go for a morning run. Working out in the morning makes me feel a sense of accomplishment before I open my first email.

Q. How often do you work from home? Due to COVID, I now work from home on a daily basis. It was a challenge at first, but I feel thankful to be a part of a company that was technically prepared and has made well-being a top priority.
