TheBridge profile: Tiffany Moore

TMoore250x250.jpg

Name: Tiffany Moore

Current city: Washington, DC

Current job: Senior Vice President, Political and Industry Affairs at the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)

Past job: Government relations consultant, political appointee, congressional staffer, corporate lobbyist

Q. Favorite spot for a coffee meeting? CTA's Innovation House on Capitol Hill, of course!

Q. Describe one way how a skill you learned in a previous job helped you in your new job. I worked for a great congressman straight out of college, Congressman Fred Upton (R-MI). He believed the best solutions were bipartisan and always worked with his colleagues on the other side of the aisle. He also reinforced that civility and how you treat people matters in public service. Those are two lessons that continue to be the foundation of how I've approached my career.

Q. Job advice in three words? Get. Stuff. Done.

Q. How are you (or your company, org, nonprofit) currently bridging the gap between politics and tech? Direct engagement. Whether it's hosting policy officials at CES each year or bringing entrepreneurs and startups to DC to talk to their Members of Congress, direct engagement is paramount. Public officials need to understand that tech's ability to improve lives depends on smart, pro-innovation policies.

Q: Living person you admire? My mother. Fierce determination to make a way out of no way for me growing up.

Q: Best career advice you have received? Play through the whistle.

Q: What is your morning routine? I have a standing date around 6 AM with my Peloton bike and favorite Peloton instructor Alex Toussaint. Afterwords, I read about 5-6 newsletters to get the major tech and political headlines of the day. On the ride in, I'll try to catch up on a podcast, usually TechDirt or WSJ's Tech News Daily. And before my first meeting, picking up my mobile order from Starbucks is essential.
